At the stroke of Midnight tonight, Friday October 30, 2009, hundreds will get together on 17th St. in the Downtown Entertainment District to SING and DANCE along to Michael Jackson's THRILLER!

Most people know about this event but there will be others that won't know what will be going on! Luckily we'll be there to film their reactions and show YOUUUU!! ;)

So we were approached by the wonderful Monica Folk with the Valley Symphony Orchestra recently who invited us to EXPERIENCE the THRILL and BEAUTY of LIVE SYMPHONIC ENTERTAINMENT!

She came and asked me if I had ever experienced an orchestra, and it hit me... I feel like a complete disgrace to music because I love and live for music but yet had NEVER experienced a live symphonic event!!!!!

So my response to her proposal was an automatic YES!!!!!!!!

Magnanimous Monday on Tuesday

As Lori stated earlier it's a Magnanimous Monday here at BeatNik , as I listen to Phoenix, and the crazy jokes, and stories of the BeatNik crew. (Get this.... we all thought it was monday till about 1pm)

We started off this morning shooting some footage at HEB for Iron Chef, and as RC and I roll up to the entrance there are three huge boxes full of pumpkins. I realized at that moment that I've never carved a pumpkin and really want to, so I've decided to just throw it out there... We should have a Beatnik pumpkin carve-off! Who's with me?

So..... I've been stuck trying to figure out, for about a week, how to convert my movie maker movies into mp4's so that I can post the BeatNik ArtWalk webisode. It finally clicked in my head...Google it!.... and of course there was the answer. Google always saves me.

Fantastical Fridayyy :)

Dear diary,

Wow, I havent had a diary since the 6th grade. eeeek those were my teeny bopper years && i refuse to keep a diary now or even a journal.. that stuff is suppose to be private like TOP SECRET STUFF. Of course when you hide it under bed and Mom finds it its screaming READ ME!

Anywhoooo, its friday whoop :)

&& my bumper is hanging by a moment like literally. I (lori) had an accident on wednesday leaving my night class. This is my fifth accident this year.. wow i should be banned off the streets! I'll send out a memo when im out on the road next time hahah*

Soo, today RC leaves a little assignment for me to work on for the Walking with Dino thing while he goes and runs an errand. I came up with some cool stuff, and suddenly like had an epiphany ORAGAMI like a Teradactyl (i dunno how you spell that).

A flying paper dinosaur = coolness

Seriously this stuff should be easy, like first grader stuff. I was stuck on the computer watching you tube videos and googling "how to make paper dinos" foreverrr!

RC comes back and asks "what are you doing"

LORI: "working on an orgami paper dino, i thought it would be cool"

RC: (with a weird look on his face) "uhhhh. what are we gonna do with it"

LORI: "Fine, neverminddd" (while i crinkle an hours worth of paper folding)

BLahhhh. so im out like a light bulb.

off to get my nails and hair done hope everyone has a fantastical friday :)))

Gooood drizzly, go-for-a-warm-cup-of-coffee, kind-of-cold, wet morning!!!!

It's another busy morning here at the Nik military headquarters, well just Nik headquarters really. Although it would be kinda cool if this was a military headquarter, mmm well not really.

It's amazingly amazing how down here in the tippy tip of Texas, Rio Grande Valley, RGV, etc., people will bust out jackets as soon as a little coldy cold wind blows.

And this intern, me, I, pronounce myself guilty of mentioned above charge!!! And I heart it!!!!

Anyways, broadcasting live, actually typing live, here is one of the many awesomely awesome Beatnik interns, smiling at you!!!! :D I beatnik promise!!!!! I'm getting dizzy here with all my ideas dancing "in the rain" around me...they all want my attention and they shall get it ;)

As I look to my left left, THE, one and only, idea place board is staring at me with the list of tasks that need to be done, TODAY!! Give me a few minutes, idea board, I'm on it, I beatnik promise!!!!

(By the way the beatnik promise is very sacred, ONE SHALL NOT BEATNIK PROMISE IN VAIN)

Anyways, so today Nik is having to make a toughy tough decision.
You see, Nik is likes his walks around the neighborhood every morning (almost like RC, except he likes moonlit walks and not around the neighborhood, so I guess it's not like RC at all really, hmm). Back to Nik, so Nik really wanted to take a walk around the neighborhood, but the only problem is the weather, tun tun tunnnnnn!!!!!
Yes, so the weather, and you see, it's not so much that it's chilly and he did not, I repeat DID NOT bring a light jacket, but it's his tentacles he worries about :(

This kind of weather will just affect his perfect tentancles!!!!

It will, without a doubty doubt, bring down, literally, and frizz, not up, but down, his perfectly perfect tentacles!!!!!

Verdict: Perfectly perfect-tentacled Nik will stay in this morning and monitor our work, and tentacle more ideas onto the already running high BEATNIK creativity!!!

Hip-Hip Hooray!!!! YAY !!!!! Go Nik!!! Give me an N, Give me an I, Give me a K, WHAT DOES THAT SPELL?

learning the ropes!!

This is Memo blogging for Beatnik today because no one has had the decency to update yet. Hooray for first dibs. So.... i'm gonna pick my creativity nose and fling you my blogger "blooger".

Today when I was sitting in the office while there was a VERY important meeting going on, I looked up and glanced at the wall with the hugeeee poster of the animated version of RC and Lucero, and noticed I work here but don't even know what beatnik means. According to Dr. Google Ph.D, Beatnik means:

Beatnik (bët' nik) - one who thinks and expresses freely by rejecting conventions and mainstream standards and therefore thrives on creativity and appreciates art and beauty

For those of you who didn't know, there it is!!!

ANYWAY.

working here is pretty chill. I dig it. I've only been here for about 3 weeks or so, but Beatnik has alot to look forward to in the future ! .... however, the "Beatnik Intern Hazing" isn't very fun. Once you survive that, it gets better, i promise.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmondays!

Dear Dairy,

I think i just spelled diary wrong but it's ok. I don't feel like going back and fixing it :) So I've been here at the BeatNik office for about an hour already and I feel like my mind is going to explode all over on to my computer screen!!!

The creativity that is blazing through my finger tips feels like a 12 oz bottle of RC Cola after being shaken and spun about and just ready to pop!!!

You know what I always hated? Was how people in northern cities call a Coke or a Pepsi, "pop".

for example: "You kids want some Pop?!" or "Yea... I'll git a bucket o' chikn wit sum dat dere pop you all got!"

But yes, there are plenty of creative juices flowing in and out of our office.

Even our interns are pretty excited! :)

Speaking of which, starting today, I will no longer be the ONLY one blogging and blurbing to you all through our networks... I have asked our interns to include their own thoughts and personalities into what we do, so you will be reading, hearing, seeing and enjoying the many words, thoughts, ideas and blurbs from the BeatNik Agency's very own interns!!!!!

Lucero and I have decided to try our own take on this Catastrophic Cocoon of Crazy Culinary Cuisine!!!!!

Alliteration aside, we will be posting the "BeatNiks Take On Iron Chef" videos EVERY WEDNESDAY leading up to the actual event, starting THIS wednesday 9/16/09!

Oh Lord! Oh My!

Hello fellow Beatnikers!

If you have been following us on Facebook,Myspace and Twitter you will know that EVERY FRIDAY is....... (drum roll please) CONFESSION FRIDAYS!!! here at the BeatNik Office!

For those unaware of what that is... We post these weekly videos that showcase entertaining comments, ideas, things, facts, motions, people, life, love, war, and of course....Nik...our mascot!
